Peter Baumann's first solo album since 2016 is an atmospheric affair that amply proves his creativity and curiosity remain undiminished. Nightfall is a deeply emotional album that embraces impermanence to transport the listener into a series of shapeshifting soundscapes.

 

A defining force in the Berlin School of electronic music, both as a member of Tangerine Dream in their most essential era, and as a solo artist, Baumann has always bridged the cerebral and the cinematic.

"The cover of Nightfall shows an imprint on a sand dune, symbolising the fleeting nature of our lives, our experiences, our existence," Baumann explains. "The track titles, as with much of my work, reflect the ephemeral, ungraspable nature of our existence. For the better part of five decades in every music project I was involved in, I aimed to infuse it with a transcendent quality." Baumann states.
