Track notes:

1. “Cinema 44” - a section of “Cinematografica” - the latter from VF701: 3/4 time on the album. This section was originally recorded in 4/4 time, & then re-sampled to 3/4 for the album track. A lot of reverb - as with many of these versions.

2. “Torrents & Stone” - work in progress for “Hanami” from VF701 - before the drums, & more instrumentation was added to the latter.

3. “Fuyu No Tsuki (冬の月)” - work in progress for “Winter Moon” from VF701, before drums & bass were later added.

4. “Approach” - demo for “Station Approach” from VF701.

5. “The Echoes On A Frosty Afternoon” - a piano-based out-take from VF701.

6. “Fishbowl Dynamics” - an experiment during the VF701 sessions: looping guitars at various speeds, combined with a trombone sample & piano.

7. “Plain Clothes Goths” - an out-take from VF707. No chorus or flanger here.

8. “April In Space” - keyboards + drum machine + Kathleen on backing vocals. An out-take from VF707. This was a single, & there is a video for it, with graphics by Timothy O’Donnell.

9. “Emergency Flapjack” - an out-take from VF707, with vintage drum machine. In many ways quite close to parts of “Denticulated Lines” from VF701. Made me think of the “That Sinking Feeling” (Bill Forsyth, 1979) soundtrack when I finished it, even though it doesn’t sound that much like it.

10. “Espera” - original working version of “Wait ...” from VF707. Very different from the album version. Kathleen on backing vocals.

11. “Betweenness” (Seven-Inch Edit) - I edited the VF707 version for a 7” A side - with perhaps a remix planned for the AA. The 7” was never released. Words & vocals by Kathleen.

12. “Vague Recall” - solo piano demo for “Nightjar Retrospective” from VF707.

13. “A Kind Of Tiger” - original working version of “Golden Crackle Effect” from V707. No handclaps from the TR-808 here; and much longer than the VF707 track.

14. “Le Cœur s’Arrête” - the solo piano demo for “Until The Heart Stops” from VF707.
