Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate's seventh studio album takes an unflinching look at our failures of communication and inability to learn from past mistakes.

Fusing elements of progressive rock, alt-rock, metal, contemporary classical music, minimalism, and electronic music, the band’s vibrantly creative music provides an ideal backdrop for lyrics frequently inspired by fiction and non-fiction books.

CD in digisleeve. All copies come signed.

“The lamenting lyrics are splendidly captured by the music which is ambient, mournful and atmospheric. I hope the guys don’t mind the analogy, but in some respects I found the overall sound and delivery reminiscent of Tim Bowness. Taking the track out, Malcolm Galloway delivers a fine melodic guitar solo.” - The Progressive Aspect

The centrepiece of the album is 'Walking To Aldebaran' inspired by the science fiction novella of the same name by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Science fiction author Iain M Banks’ novel ‘Look To Windward’ is the inspiration of the title track. The track ‘The Man Who Japed’ is named after the Philip K Dick novel. The childhood experiences of David Cornwell, who wrote as John le Carré are the inspiration behind ‘Sixteen Hugless Years’. ‘The Glamour Boys’ was inspired by Labour MP Chris Byrant’s book of the same name about the experiences of a group of mostly homosexual or bisexual MPs who argued against appeasement, despite the threats from Chamberlain’s government to expose their secrets. Many went on to risk, and in some cases lose their lives in the Second World War. The album ends with the anthropogenic climate change inspired 'Burn The World'.
