Originally released in 1996, Warm Nights repositioned Robert’s standing as one of the great songwriters of the post-punk era. Robert recalls that producer Edwyn Collins “got the [intended] sound of the album completely: a dry low-end groove pitched somewhere between Creedence Clearwater Revival and Willie Mitchell’s early ’70s Hi Records work.”
The 2024 reissue is something of a ‘Director’s Cut’ featuring a previously unreleased ‘brass’ version of ‘Fortress’ (the original album version is included on the bonus 7 of the vinyl package”) , 'Half The Way Home’ replaces ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Friend’ (also on the bonus 7’).
The artwork for ‘Warm Nights’ has been lovingly revised by the original designer Leni Hoffman and includes new liner notes by Robert Forster.
Remastered at Abbey Road Studios.
