Upon its release in 1991, Gothic was the album responsible for a whole sub-genre, Gothic Doom Metal.
Creating a more melancholy and atmospheric form of dark extremity, with the introduction of Gregor Mackintosh's highly distinctive and unmistakable lead guitar melodies, Paradise Lost quickly came to be seen as one of the pioneering bands of the early 1990s, becoming highly influential to a generation of subsequent greats, including Katatonia.
Gothic was recorded in late 1990/early 1991 at the Academy Studios in Yorkshire; a studio responsible for classic recordings from bands such as My Dying Bride, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, among many others.
This limited edition of Gothic is presented on picture disc vinyl featuring cut-out sleeve, and the original album artwork on the reverse side.
Please note: Picture discs are handmade & not audiophile pressings. This process of manufacture makes them, inevitably, more susceptible to crackles, pops & occasional warping. But they do look great!
