With a nod to bass-heavy Ambient Electronica - somewhere between New Order and Massive Attack - Infinite Regress is a song-based solo outing from prolific collaborator, bassist and composer Colin Edwin.
Featuring Edwin’s longtime friend, vocalist and lyricist RJ Peck, the album collects ten intuitive and visceral songs with a nocturnal ambience, and explores themes of urban alienation, technological distraction, and the inaccuracy of both collective and personal memories.
Highlights include the plaintive Demission (where an insistent, propulsive and overly simplistic one note bassline underpins an incongruously cheery lament to the inescapable claustrophobia of everyday life) and the disorientating and abstract Floatograph, which asks the perennial question, “Are You Real?”
A thought-provoking and mysterious release, which rewards repeated listening.
